Registered Psychotherapist

ABOUT STACEY

I have a passion to work with individuals as they navigate through their difficult times and strive to work collaboratively towards a better overall quality of life.   I am a registered member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a graduate of a Master of Arts program in Counselling Psychology.  I have worked in the field of mental health and addictions for 20 years and have had vast experience working with clients with a variety of mental health and addiction issues.  My primary goal is to build a strong therapeutic rapport with each of my clients and ensure that there is comfort in the vulnerability of sharing your story and working toward the goals of your therapy.

As a client-centered therapist working with adults, as well as, children and youth, I will use an eclectic approach offering services that are evidence based and are best suited to your personal situation. I am a certified practitioner of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and have experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Compassion Fatigue, and Caregiver Burnout. I strive to build on your personal strengths and resiliencies as a starting point in creating positive change.

WHAT is PSYCHOTHERAPY?

Psychotherapy has both risks and benefits.  Throughout the therapy process an individual may experience feelings such as exhaustion and/or discomfort.  This can happen as a result of processing new ways of thinking or because you have spoken about something that has been upsetting for you.  As a result of therapy, you may experience positive changes in your physical, mental, and emotional health. In addition, therapy can lead to an improved quality of life.

WHAT is PSYCHOTHERAPY?

Psychotherapy is a way to help you overcome problematic thoughts or behaviours that negatively impact your life.  It allows an individual, couples or families, to talk openly about their concerns in a confidential setting with a trained professional.
